What to put on a product map
Branch into users, problems, features and bets. Under problems write the sentence a real user said, not the one you would write in a deck — the wording is the evidence. Under features, mark each one as "ships this quarter" or "later" so the map doubles as a scope decision.
The "bets" branch is the one most teams skip: the assumptions you are making that would change everything if they turned out to be wrong. Two or three lines there are worth more than another twenty features.
Where product maps go wrong
Feature lists with no user underneath. A feature that cannot be traced to a stated problem is a guess wearing a roadmap’s clothes. The second failure is no "won’t do" branch — a roadmap that only grows is not a plan, it is an accumulating apology.

How do I build a product roadmap as a mind map?
Put the product in the center, then create one branch per quarter. Under each quarter list the features or milestones planned, and keep a risks lane beneath with anything that could push dates.
Is a mind map useful for roadmap planning?
Yes, at the planning stage — it is fast to rearrange and shows dependencies between quarters visually. For day-to-day sprint tracking most teams still use a board, but the map is the source of the quarter plan.
