1. Overview

Mind Map Online (“we”, “our”, “the Service”) is a free online mind map tool. It is designed to work without an account, and your mind maps never leave your device. This policy explains what stays on your device, what we do collect, and how advertising and analytics work.

The data controller for this site is Duy Nguyen, an individual based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam — reachable through the contact page or at support@mindmaponline.online.

  • No registration or login is required to use the editor.
  • Your mind maps are stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
  • We collect anonymous, aggregate analytics about page visits.
  • We show advertising to keep the Service free. Our advertising partners may use cookies — you can opt out (see section 6).
  • We never sell your personal information.

3. Data stored on your device

Your maps, editor preferences and tour state are saved in your browser’s local storage on the device you are using. They are never uploaded to us and never synced to a cloud. Export or back up anything you want to keep: clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching devices means your maps will not follow you.

4. Data we collect

  • Aggregate analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand overall traffic: which pages are visited, roughly which country, device type, and how visitors arrive. This is not used to build a profile of you.
  • Standard server logs — our host (Cloudflare) records standard web requests such as the requested URL, timestamp and IP address for security and abuse prevention, under its own policy.
  • Email you send us — if you contact support, we receive the message you wrote and nothing else.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them, and allow selected third parties to use them, for three purposes:

  • Strictly necessary — remembering your cookie/consent choice. These do not require consent.
  • Analytics — measuring aggregate traffic (Google Analytics 4).
  • Advertising — serving and measuring ads, as described in section 6.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may reset your saved preferences; the editor itself keeps working.

6. Advertising and third-party vendors

Mind Map Online is free to use and is funded by advertising. Where advertising is shown, it is delivered by third-party vendors, including Google.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. These cookies may also be used to measure ad performance and to limit how often you see the same ad. Google’s advertising cookie is often referred to as the DoubleClick or DART cookie.

You can control personalised advertising at any time:

  • Opt out of personalised advertising by Google: Google Ads Settings.
  • Opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising: aboutads.info/choices, or youronlinechoices.eu in the EU.
  • Browser-level controls, such as blocking third-party cookies, also limit ad personalisation. Note that ads may still be shown to you — they will simply be less relevant (non-personalised advertising).

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: before any non-essential cookie is set, a consent notice asks for your permission. You can accept or decline, and you can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer (or by clearing your browser storage for this site). If you decline, we do not use advertising or analytics cookies for you, and only non-personalised ads (if any) may be shown.

Ad vendors we may work with include Google AdSense and its advertising partners. Each vendor has its own privacy policy and opt-out mechanism, linked above where applicable.

7. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are useful. Where consent is required, analytics cookies are only set after you agree; if you decline, analytics runs in a cookieless mode that records no identifier for you. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts with a content blocker.

8. Third-party services we use

  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic statistics.
  • Google advertising — ad serving and measurement, where ads are shown.
  • Google Fonts — fonts served from Google’s CDN, which may log a standard web request.
  • YouTube (nocookie mode) — loaded only if you choose to play a video inside a map; nothing is embedded until you press play.
  • Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and basic security.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. In practice we hold almost nothing: the only personal data we could hold is an email you chose to send us, plus the aggregate analytics described above.

Where we rely on consent (analytics and advertising cookies), you may withdraw it at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing this site’s storage in your browser, which brings the consent notice back.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. To make a request, email us using the address below.

10. International transfers

Our analytics and advertising providers are based in the United States and may process data there. Transfers are covered by the providers’ own safeguards and data-processing terms.

11. Data retention

Mind maps stay in your browser until you delete them. Aggregate analytics are retained for the period set in our analytics account (typically 14 months). Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you.

12. Children

Mind Map Online is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; no account or personal details are required to use it.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change with it. Material changes, such as adding a new data processor or a new advertising partner, will be described on this page rather than made silently.
