What to put on a meeting map
Four branches do the work: topics, agenda, decisions and owners. Write topics as questions rather than nouns — "do we ship in May?" starts a discussion, "May release" starts a monologue. Under agenda, put the time box next to each item so the meeting can be cut short without losing the important half.
Decisions and owners are the only part that must be written during the meeting, not after. One line per decision, one name per action, no sentence longer than ten words. If a decision has no owner, it is not a decision yet — it is an opinion that will be re-litigated next week.
Where meeting maps go wrong
Capturing the conversation instead of the outcome. Notes that record who said what are unreadable a week later; notes that record what changed are useful for a year. The other failure is letting the map grow during the meeting — a five-branch map stays readable on a shared screen, a thirty-node one does not.
Editing on the canvas
Every node is editable: double-click to rename, Tab and Enter to build structure, drag branches to reorder, and one click applies a theme. Changes autosave to your browser. If you want the full walkthrough first, read how to make a mind map, or open the mind map maker and start from a blank canvas.
Exporting and sharing
Export as PNG, PDF or SVG — watermark-free, no account. Exporting as JSON instead keeps the full structure, so you can re-import and carry on later.

FAQ
How do I take meeting notes with a mind map?
Put the meeting name in the center. As items come up, add branches for agenda topics, decisions, actions, and follow-ups. Assign each action to a person and due date as you go — the map becomes the minutes.
Is a mind map good for meeting notes?
Yes, for discussion-heavy meetings. Linear notes bury actions inside paragraphs; a map keeps topics, decisions, and action items visually separate so follow-ups are easy to scan after the meeting.
Can I share the meeting map with my team?
Yes — export as PNG or PDF and attach it to the meeting notes, or export SVG if your team wants to keep editing. Everything is free and no account is needed.
