What to put on a content calendar map
Branch by week, then by the one idea that week carries. Give each entry three things: the format, the hook, and the asset you still need (a screenshot, a quote, a photo). Naming the missing asset is what turns a calendar into a to-do list you can actually clear.
Add a "repeatable" branch for formats that worked — the ones you can produce without a new idea. Those are what keep the calendar alive in a busy week, and they are the reason to write down what worked while you still remember why.
Where content calendars go wrong
Filling every slot with a new idea. Sustainable calendars are mostly repeatable formats with a few original pieces; the reverse burns out in six weeks. The second failure is no gap — a calendar with no empty week cannot absorb a launch, a holiday or a sick day.
Editing on the canvas
Every node is editable: double-click to rename, Tab and Enter to build structure, drag branches to reorder, and one click applies a theme. Changes autosave to your browser. If you want the full walkthrough first, read how to make a mind map, or open the mind map maker and start from a blank canvas.
Exporting and sharing
Export as PNG, PDF or SVG — watermark-free, no account. Exporting as JSON instead keeps the full structure, so you can re-import and carry on later.

FAQ
How do I plan a content calendar with a mind map?
Put the calendar in the center. List your Platforms (blog, social, YouTube), the Formats you publish (articles, shorts), your Weekly Slots, and keep an Ideas Bank branch so you never start from zero. Assign each idea to a slot and a platform as you plan the month.
Is a mind map better than a spreadsheet for content planning?
Spreadsheets are better for dates and statuses; maps are better for ideas and relationships. Use this template to decide what to publish, then mirror the plan into your calendar tool with the dates.
Can the template handle multiple authors or channels?
Yes — add a branch per author or per channel under Platforms and Weekly Slots. Every node is editable, so the map scales to a team or a solo creator.
