What to put on a career map
Branch into where you are, what you want next, what you are missing, and your next three moves. Under "what you are missing", be specific enough to act on: a certificate by a date, a portfolio piece, one person you should talk to. Under "next moves", keep each one doable inside a fortnight.
Add a "proof" branch — the things you have already done that a stranger could verify. It is the branch you will read before an interview, and writing it early stops you from discovering, the night before, that your best work is not findable.
Where career maps go wrong
Goal words with no route. "Become a lead" is a direction; "own the payments service by Q3" is a plan someone can help you with. The other failure is leaving out the current-state branch, which makes it impossible to see whether you are one skill or one conversation away from the next step.
Editing on the canvas
Every node is editable: double-click to rename, Tab and Enter to build structure, drag branches to reorder, and one click applies a theme. Changes autosave to your browser. If you want the full walkthrough first, read how to make a mind map, or open the mind map maker and start from a blank canvas.
Exporting and sharing
Export as PNG, PDF or SVG — watermark-free, no account. Exporting as JSON instead keeps the full structure, so you can re-import and carry on later.

FAQ
How do I plan a career change with a mind map?
Put your target role in the center (or your current role and where it leads). Branch into skills you need to build, target positions to apply for, and interview preparation with likely questions and your talking points.
Why use a mind map for career planning?
A career plan has many moving parts — skills, applications, interviews, timing. A map keeps them connected and shows gaps, like a skill you are missing for the roles you want.
Can I use the same template for a resume review?
Yes — map your experience as branches (projects, skills, results) and compare them against job postings node by node to spot what to emphasize.
