Goal Setting Mind Map Template
The Goal Setting mind map template turns a wish into a plan: long-term vision on one side, short-term targets on the other, then the action steps and daily habits that make them real. It is built for annual reviews, quarterly planning, and new-year resolutions.

What to put on a goal map
Branch into the outcome, the evidence that it happened, the obstacles, and the first three actions. "Evidence" is the branch that saves you: a goal you cannot recognise when you reach it will be abandoned quietly at week four, because progress never feels like arrival.
Under obstacles, write the two you have already met before. Repeating goals fail in predictable ways, and naming last attempt’s failure mode is more useful than any amount of motivation.
Where goal maps go wrong
Writing the outcome and stopping. A goal with no evidence and no first action is a mood. The other failure is too many goals — three that share the map is plenty; seven means you have not chosen, and a map that does not choose will not either.
Editing on the canvas
Every node is editable: double-click to rename, Tab and Enter to build structure, drag branches to reorder, and one click applies a theme. Changes autosave to your browser. If you want the full walkthrough first, read how to make a mind map, or open the mind map maker and start from a blank canvas.
Exporting and sharing
Export as PNG, PDF or SVG — watermark-free, no account. Exporting as JSON instead keeps the full structure, so you can re-import and carry on later.

FAQ
How do I plan goals with a mind map?
Put the goal in the center. Under Long-term Goals add your 5-year vision and yearly milestones; under Short-term Goals list monthly targets and weekly tasks. Finish with concrete Action Steps (first step, deadlines) and the Habits & Tracking branch that keeps you consistent.
What is the difference between a goal map and a to-do list?
A to-do list shows what to do next; a goal map shows why — the vision and targets that make each task meaningful. Link each weekly task back to a milestone so priorities stay visible.
Can I use this template for a yearly review?
Yes. Keep the same structure every year: vision, targets, steps, habits. Export the map as PNG or PDF and compare year over year to see what moved and what stalled.
