Exam Revision Mind Map Template

The Exam Revision mind map template drills a topic down into formulas, tricky questions, and retry lists — built for the last weeks before an exam. Instead of re-reading notes, you map what you still cannot answer.

What to put on an exam map

Branch by paper section, then by question type, then by the mistake you keep making. Working backwards from the marking scheme is what makes this different from a revision map: for each section write what the examiner is looking for, and for each question type write the shape of a full-mark answer.

Give the last branch to timing. How many minutes per section, what you will do with the last ten minutes, and which question you will skip if you have to. Deciding that in advance is the single highest-value thing you can put on the board.

Where exam maps go wrong

Copying the syllabus. The syllabus is already printed; the map should hold what the syllabus does not say — which topics actually appear together, and where you lose marks. The second failure is leaving content out: if a branch only covers what you already know, it will not help the night before.

Editing on the canvas

Every node is editable: double-click to rename, Tab and Enter to build structure, drag branches to reorder, and one click applies a theme. Changes autosave to your browser. If you want the full walkthrough first, read how to make a mind map, or open the mind map maker and start from a blank canvas.

Exporting and sharing

Export as PNG, PDF or SVG — watermark-free, no account. Exporting as JSON instead keeps the full structure, so you can re-import and carry on later.

FAQ

How should I revise with the Exam Revision template?

Put the subject in the center. Add branches for each topic, then under each one list formulas, tricky questions you got wrong, and a retry list. Revise from the map until the retry list is empty.

How is this different from the Study Notes template?

Study Notes is for ongoing learning — concepts, resources, practice. Exam Revision is for the final stretch: it is organized around what you do not know yet, not what you have studied.

Can I export the revision map as a printable cheat sheet?

Yes — export to PDF for a compact printable sheet, or PNG to keep on your phone. Both are watermark-free and free to download.
