Decision Matrix Mind Map Template
The Decision Matrix mind map template lays a choice out honestly: options, criteria, weights, then pros and cons side by side. Use it before any commitment — a job offer, a purchase, a direction for a project — so the trade-offs are visible instead of felt later.

What to put on a decision map
Branch into the real options, the criteria you will judge them by, what each one costs, and what would make you change your mind. Weight the criteria roughly — even "must have / nice to have / don’t care" stops the loudest criterion from winning by default.
The "change my mind" branch is the one that makes this a decision rather than a justification: name the fact that would reverse it, and the date you will look. A decision with a reversal condition is one you can stop defending.
Where decision maps go wrong
Two options dressed as many. If every branch pairs back to the same two choices, the map is a debate, not an analysis. The other failure is deciding criteria after scoring the options — that is how a decision gets reverse-engineered to a conclusion somebody already wanted.
Editing on the canvas
Every node is editable: double-click to rename, Tab and Enter to build structure, drag branches to reorder, and one click applies a theme. Changes autosave to your browser. If you want the full walkthrough first, read how to make a mind map, or open the mind map maker and start from a blank canvas.
Exporting and sharing
Export as PNG, PDF or SVG — watermark-free, no account. Exporting as JSON instead keeps the full structure, so you can re-import and carry on later.

FAQ
How do I use a mind map to make a decision?
Put the decision in the center. List your realistic Options, then the Criteria that matter (cost, time, value). Under Weights say how much each criterion counts, and finish with a Pros & Cons branch per option. The best option is usually the one with the fewest weighted cons.
What is a decision matrix in planning?
A decision matrix scores options against weighted criteria instead of gut feeling. A mind map version is lighter than a spreadsheet: criteria and weights stay visible on one page, and you can rearrange branches as the choice evolves.
Does the template support comparing more than two options?
Yes — duplicate the Options and Pros & Cons branches as needed. Add or remove nodes freely; the canvas has no limits and every node is editable.
